This Phenomena Make Day and Night Become Equal Duration

For several days today the weather is getting hot, especially in equator line like, Singapore, Malaysia and also Indonesia. The phenomenon is the Equinox. Equinox is one astronomical phenomenon when the sun crosses the equator. An equinox is an astronomical event in which the plane of Earth’s equator passes through the center of the Sun, which occurs twice each year, around 20 March and 23 September.

On an equinox, day and night are of approximately equal duration all over the planet 12 hours. They are not exactly equal, however, due to the angular size of the sun and atmospheric refraction. To avoid this ambiguity, the word equilux is sometimes used to mean a day in which the durations of light and darkness are equal. See Length of equinoctial day and night for further discussion.

The equinoxes are the only times when the solar terminator (the “edge” between night and day) is perpendicular to the equator. As a result, the northern and southern hemispheres are equally illuminated.

In other words, the equinoxes are the only times when the sub solar point is on the equator, meaning that the Sun is exactly overhead at a point on the equatorial line. The sub solar point crosses the equator moving northward at the March equinox and southward at the September equinox.

The equinoxes, along with solstices, are directly related to the seasons of the year. In the northern hemisphere, the vernal equinox (March) conventionally marks the beginning of spring in most culture and is considered the New Year in the Persian calendar or Iranian calendars as Nouroz (means new day), while the autumnal equinox (September) marks the beginning of autumn. In the southern hemisphere, the vernal equinox occurs in September and the autumnal equinox in March. This phenomenon periodically take place two times a year, on 21 March and 23 September of this phenomenon are currently underway, the duration of day and night in all parts of the Earth are relatively similar, including who was in subtropical regions in the north and south.

In Indonesia equinox phenomena are been be perceived by people by one week later. All people suggest not going outside from 12 pm until 3 pm, because the weather heat can be make us dehydration and get fever. The existence of such phenomena does not always lead to an increase in air temperature drastically, where we know the average maximum temperature in the region of Indonesia can reach 32-36 degrees Celsius.

Indeed, there is an increase in air temperature phenomenon occurred Equinox. But not going to reach 40 degrees Celsius. Equinox is not a phenomenon like the Heat Wave is happening in Africa and the Middle East that could lead to an increase in air temperature on a large and long-lasting.

Well, that the information about the equinox phenomena. Thank you! Have a nice day! Happy holiday!
